International Travel to Liverpool
International travellers have two options when traveling to Liverpool:
Liverpool John Lennon Airport - Services mostly European destinations including direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol, Dublin and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
Travel to city centre from Liverpool airport:
- By Bus - There is a bus stop right outside the terminal building with regular busses to the city centre. Arriva's 500 bus service is the fastest bus service to operate between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Liverpool city centre. Buses operate every 15 minutes between 4am and midnight daily. This takes around 40 minutes depending on time of day.
- By Train - There is no train station at the airport, you will need to transfer to Liverpool South Parkway station. Transport is available between the airport and the rail station via the 80A and 86A bus services, which operate up to every 7-8 minutes. You will then have a number of train options to reach the city centre, with the Mersey Rail services being most reliable and frequent.
- By Taxi - The taxi rank is located directly outside of the terminal building.
Manchester Airport - Services more destinations than Liverpool, including more international destinations, and London Heathrow.
Travel to city centre from Manchester airport:
- By Train - There is a station located at the airport with easy access to all terminals. There are direct trains to Liverpool Lime street station or Manchester Piccadilly station which has direct links to Liverpool. You can pre-book tickets at Train Line. Train times are usually between 1 hour and 1 hour 30
Travelling to Liverpool by Rail
Liverpool's main inter-city station is Liverpool Lime Street. It has direct trains to many cities across the country including direct trains to London Euston and Birmingham New Street. Travel time from London Euston is around 2 hours 20. You can pre-book tickets at Train Line
